My name is Katie Noble and I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy and an avid runner. My passion is helping to empower runners to achieve their best and, in turn, help to elevate the culture of distance running.
If you’ve found this resource, it’s likely that you’re also a runner who is seeking help with training, injury, or both. As a physical therapist and a student of running, I have devoted much time, education, research to this topic. I want to get the information athletes need in one place, as an education-packed resource you can utilize to help minimize injury, supplement your own research, form new ideas, use as a jumping off point for questions, and inspire greater awareness of the running experience.
You’ll notice I pay particular attention to the female runner. This is purposeful. For one, I am a female runner. I have seen many girls and women who have opted out of their physical power due to the confusing messages sent their way everyday (Thin is fast! Your looks are most important! If you’re going to try, you must be perfect!). The world teaches women, in and out of sport, that our bodies aren’t good enough. Girls begin to drop out of sport at the age of puberty, a phenomenon not seen in boys. So yeah, women and girls deserve concentrated education about their bodies and power.
As a PT, I use research and evidence to guide my decision-making as it relates to a patient’s health. This educational resource is no exception. But honestly, some questions are better answered with experiences – my own and others – from being a female athlete.
Please read, explore, learn, and ask any questions you may have. I’m here to help.
